Idiom Leads Multiple Dita-Related Initiatives At European Content Management And Xml Events

Adobe, IBM, Nokia and OASIS Join Idiom to Highlight the Business Value of Emerging
XML Standard at Amsterdam Gilbane Conference, XTech 2005

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - May 16, 2005 - Idiom® Technologies, Inc. (Idiom), the only enterprise software company to deliver advanced XML-based publishing and content globalization solutions, today announced that it will lead several educational initiatives at the Gilbane Conference on Content Management Technologies and XTech 2005 being held concurrently May 25-27, 2005 at the RAI Center, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Idiom will also be exhibiting at booth #15 in the Vendor Pavilion.

Working with the Gilbane Report, Idiom has developed several informative sessions addressing the momentum and business value behind global publishing solutions based on Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA), the emerging XML standard. The sessions will feature DITA advocates, both from the development and end-user communities, including representatives from Adobe, IBM and Nokia. The sessions are:

"Solutions for Complex Content Applications," Thursday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m.
There are a number of dimensions to the complexity of a content application, not only related to the content itself, but also connected to timeliness, volume and the need to comply with multiple international regulatory requirements. The DITA standard shows promise as a means of addressing this content application complexity and the need to publish content simultaneously in multiple languages. Speakers, including Andrew Thomas, senior content localization specialist, Adobe; Ian Larner, senior information architect, IBM; and Eric Silberstein, Idiom founder and CTO, will describe real-world approaches to deploying DITA-based applications for the complex content that drives an organization's business. Mary Laplante, vice president consulting services, Bluebill Advisors and senior editor, The Gilbane Report, will moderate the panel.

"Technology Directions: Driving DITA Adoption In Europe," Friday, May 27,  8 – 10:00 a.m.  In this complimentary breakfast seminar, representatives from IBM, Idiom, Nokia, and OASIS will present on DITA and its practical applications, while leading an open discussion focused specifically on the adoption of DITA-based publishing initiatives in Europe through establishing regular meetings, networking opportunities and education events. Panelists from Thursday's presentation will be on hand, with the addition of Indi Leipa, senior information architect at Nokia.

"In order to spur adoption of DITA, it's important to build a community of individuals who can articulate and share the business benefits this emerging standard can bring to companies who are already leveraging XML in their globalization initiatives," said Frank Gilbane, conference chair and editor and publisher of The Gilbane Report. "Led by an impressive panel of industry influencers, the Idiom breakfast seminar is a valuable opportunity for attendees to discuss their experiences, share lessons learned and begin to establish a set of best practices around DITA implementations."
