Idiom Delivers New Version Of Industry-Leading
Globalization Management System
New Release Further Simplifies Global Content Lifecycle for Idiom Customers
Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - October 11, 2004 -
The global content lifecycle™ leader, Idiom
® Technologies, Inc., today debuted a new version of its flagship WorldServer solution, delivering a long list of new features and capabilities that advance globalization ease-of-use, security, version control, and extensibility. The enhancements are included in all editions of the WorldServer product family.
First introduced in 1998, WorldServer is the first content globalization solution designed specifically for large, global enterprises. Today, the WorldServer product family enables market leaders such as Adobe, Oracle, eBay, Travelocity, Caterpillar, and Motorola to manage high-volume translation and localization efforts for documents, websites, and software applications.
"WorldServer is used by more large enterprises than any other globalization management system," said Dave Rosenlund, vice president, marketing and business development for Idiom Technologies. "The enhancements introduced today further streamline globalization processes, enabling our customers to accelerate the delivery of new products into global markets while reducing the cost of translation and localization."
Select WorldServer 7.5 enhancements include:
EASE-OF-USE
- WorldServer Service Desk: an easy-to-use Web application that makes it easier for non-technical business users to submit documents, and other forms of content for translation and localization, monitor its progress, and retrieve it upon completion.
- Context Comparison: allows users to compare two versions of an evolving translation by displaying the differences between them in a familiar visual form—presenting inserted text in green, deleted text in red with strikethrough, and so on.
- TRADOS TTX Import/Export: allows users to export (and import) TRADOS translation kits in native TTX format, the familiar format for users of this popular desktop CAT tool. (Previously, this was done via the industry standard translation memory exchange {TMX} format.)
SECURITY
- Enhanced Sign-on Security: provides new administrator controls such as account lockout, password expiration, and password validation against external password controls.
- New System User Role: provides for a new category of users that have limited system administration privileges.
- Digital Security Certificates: WorldServer Java applets are now signed with a digital security certificate issued by Verisign
- LDAP Authentication Enhancements: adds advanced LDAP capabilities, such as user type and selection parameters to WorldServer user administration.
VERSION CONTROL
- Archiving: enables the capture and permanent storage of projects.
- In-use Object Deletion: allows administrators to remove objects that are referenced by other objects. For Example: it might be desirable to delete content assets for subsequent projects, while still enabling existing projects to access those assets.
EXTENSIBILITY (New SDK Features)
- New APIs: provides Workflow, Project, and Task services, an Automatic Action framework, Filter creation services, and additional Import/Export facilities.
Availability:WorldServer 7.5 is available immediately.
