Information Builders Standardizes Globalization
Efforts Using Idiom Worldserver
WorldServer Provides a Complete Platform for Translating Product Documentation, Customer Help Materials, Web Content and Software Localization
Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - September 13, 2004 - Globalization Management Systems (GMS) leader Idiom
® Technologies, Inc., today announced that Information Builders, the leader in enterprise business intelligence (BI) and real-time operational reporting, will use Idiom WorldServer™ as the platform for managing the company's global content lifecycle.
Information Builders is a leading provider of business intelligence and software integration tools that help organizations globally distribute information, which helps employees, customers, and partners make better and faster decisions. With 47 offices worldwide and 26 international distributors, Information Builders serves thousands of customers, including most of the Fortune 100. Idiom delivers the industry's leading globalization solutions that enable large enterprises to create, globalize, manage, and deliver content in different forms, and different languages, simultaneously.
Information Builders intends to use WorldServer initially to translate and localize all of its documentation content, and hopes longer term to extend its use to include software localization and web content. By purchasing WorldServer Enterprise, Information Builders has access to the functionality of all three editions of the GMS product family, including:
- WorldServer Global Electronic Publishing, for translating product documentation and customer help materials, as well as other printed or electronic documents.
- WorldServer Global Website Deployment, for streamlining the collaborative process of producing and managing complex global websites.
- And WorldServer Global Software Engineering, which shortens product delivery cycles, by accelerating the translation and localization of software applications and embedded software.
Information Builders' Documentation Services team is launching the first WorldServer project, to automate the company's documentation lifecycle, deliver a variety of customer self-help solutions, and produce user reference materials in a variety of print and electronic formats — in 9 languages, around the globe. By facilitating content reuse, and leveraging global workflow processes, Information Builders can enable its authors, reviewers, project managers, and translators to work together, in a "continuous translation" process, which begins as soon as a module, or unit of documentation is created. As edits to existing content are made, or new content is added, WorldServer keeps track of the changes, and leverages a variety of translation technologies to eliminate redundancies, and dramatically shorten delivery times.
"We'd looked at several content management solutions, prior to discovering WorldServer, and we were pleased to find out that not only could WorldServer address the needs of our Documentation Services team, but it also had the potential to provide a common platform for Web globalization and software localization," said Tim Benthall, VP of Systems and Communications at Information Builders.
"Today, Information Builders is achieving record results, and enjoying the greatest success of its entire 29 year history - due in large part to its ability to penetrate new global markets," said Idiom president and CEO, Joe Fiorentino. "We're thrilled to help them accelerate that process, while shaving costs that will even further enhance their bottom line. Our mutual efforts illustrate the global nature of today's economy, and validate the fact that globalization management systems are a must for global companies of any size."
