Eastman Chemical Company Chooses Idiom Technologies To Expand Worldwide Web Presence

Leading International Chemical Firm Will Use Idiom WorldServer to Synchronize Globalization Process

Waltham, MA - January 23, 2001 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the premier provider of e-business globalization solutions, today announced that leading international chemical firm Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) has selected Idiom WorldServer™ software to meet its globalization needs. Idiom WorldServer will help synchronize and localize the company's e-commerce website, www.eastman.com, and help Eastman maintain a consistent high-quality worldwide Internet presence.

"Internationally, our Web traffic is growing tremendously," said Toni Corwin, Web globalization program manager for Eastman. "In realizing the importance of tapping into this worldwide market, we set out to find the best e-business globalization company available. Idiom surpassed our expectations in all areas, from technology to product and service offerings. Our goal is to ensure the same quality user experience to all of our customers and trading partners regardless of location, business culture, or language. We feel confident that Idiom will make that happen."

Eastman will use WorldServer software to globalize and localize content on Eastman.com, which in turn will provide value to its trading partners through multilingual capabilities and content targeted to specific regions. Eastman chose Idiom because its service, technology, and methodology met a strict set of criteria including: the maturity and richness of its product offering; the company's availability and responsiveness to support issues; and its ability to pass Eastman's proof of concept which Eastman used to gauge how WorldServer would handle typical situations throughout the globalization process.

Idiom's Global Partner Network™ (GPN) also played a critical role in attracting Eastman, as the GPN will enable Eastman to choose from an extensive pool of vendors as the company invests in its internal infrastructure. Currently, Idiom and GPN member Eprise are working on a joint project for Eastman, leveraging flagship products WorldServer and Eprise Participant Server to ultimately offer the Web as a primary communication channel between Eastman and its trading partners around the world.

Eastman has successfully completed Idiom's Global Readiness Assessment™, an interactive on-site workshop designed to help accelerate the process of formulating a comprehensive and customized global Web strategy. Eastman plans to implement WorldServer initially to deploy and maintain Web sites for its Latin American audiences in Spanish and Portuguese. Localized sites for the Asia-Pacific region will follow, with offerings in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. Eastman will rely on Idiom WorldServer to automate and synchronize the management of its multilingual Web presence. Eastman will also leverage WorldServer's open architecture and support of webMethods' Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solution to integrate Web content from sources as varied as HTML files to ERP systems.

"Eastman realizes the importance of e-business globalization and the benefits of reaching key markets around the world," said Fred Lizza, president and CEO of Idiom. "By utilizing Idiom's software and services, the company also is making a statement about the quality they demand in carrying out the process."
