Idiom Unveils Business Planning Tool For Globalization

Offers Senior Executives Quick Insight into Their Companies' "Globalization Quotient

Waltham, MA - January 31, 2001 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the premier provider of e-business globalization solutions, today unveiled the Globalization QuotientSM, an online planning tool that helps companies discover and measure their potential to launch and maintain effective global Web sites. The Globalization Quotient enables executives to interactively evaluate their e-business globalization readiness, understand how they compare with other firms, and automatically receive specific recommendations to help them move forward - all in a 15 minute online session. The Globalization Quotient planning tool is available for free through WorldWise™, an online resource center sponsored by Idiom at http://www.idiominc.com/worldwise.

"In designing the Globalization Quotient, we felt it was critical to offer a tool that helps companies learn how to globalize their e-business at the highest levels," said Tony Kolish, Vice President, Professional Services of Idiom. "Getting a sense of the enterprise-wide scope of globalization can be a challenge. We're trying to equip companies with the tools to evaluate and understand their overall readiness, and with proven methods to follow through successfully."

Using the Globalization Quotient (GQ), executives walk through 15 statements about their e-business globalization readiness in three main categories: strategy, organization, and technology. Based on their answers, the tool produces an overall GQ score, ratings in each of the three categories, and a multi-page report containing advice for likely action items and next steps. After taking the GQ, companies can benchmark their performance: How effective is their globalization planning? Are the right people and workflows in place? Do they have the technology infrastructure to enable effective management and growth of an international Web presence?

The Globalization Quotient was researched and developed by a team of former analysts and globalization industry veterans. Its recommendations are based on Idiom's own research, analysis, and globalization expertise, as well as on the findings of Idiom's professional services team at dozens of Global Readiness Assessments™ (GRAs). The GRA is an interactive on-site workshop that assists organizations in evaluating their technical, business, and marketing readiness for e-business globalization. Idiom has conducted GRAs at dozens of multi-national companies, and has identified best practices at pioneering organizations.
