Idiom Momentum Demonstrates Leadership In E-Business Globalization
Innovation, Partnerships, and Thought Leadership Drive Strong Sales Results
Waltham, MA - February 6, 2001 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the premier provider of e-business globalization solutions, ended the year 2000 with increased momentum garnering 14 new customers and 6 additional strategic and technology partnerships in the final quarter. Major milestones achieved during Q4 2000 included the release of the third generation of WorldServer™ Web infrastructure software for globalization, the introduction of the "GlobalMobile" wireless initiative, the debut of WorldWise™, an online resource center for e-business globalization, the formation of the Global Partner Network™, and the expansion of business operations into Europe.
"E-business globalization will be a critical component of successful global strategies for organizations in the coming year," said Fred Lizza, CEO of Idiom Technologies, Inc. "Global companies recognize the importance of taking their online businesses global in order to increase revenues, ensure consistent worldwide brands, reduce costs, and streamline business processes. Idiom is focused on building key industry relationships and delivering the right products and services to provide complete globalization solutions for our customers' success."
New Customers
Idiom is one of the first companies to eliminate the obstacles to successful e-business globalization and drive down the cost of global e-business. One of today's major enterprise challenges is a phenomenon known as the "Globalization GapSM," which describes the unintended differences between a company's home site and its network of international sites. Because Web content changes constantly, organizations have found that the very day they deploy a new international site, that site's content is already out of sync with the corporate site.
Among Idiom's new customers are leading global organizations such as MasterCard, Advanced Micro Devices, AVNET, and United Airlines, who selected Idiom solutions to help them close the globalization gap. Idiom WorldServer software enables companies to maintain a consistent, high-quality worldwide Web presence, and Idiom's Global Readiness Assessment™ guides organizations in defining and expanding their globalization strategies. Other customers currently implementing WorldServer include Adobe, Eastman Chemical Company, General Electric, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
New Partners
Idiom launched its Global Partner Network (GPN), a comprehensive partnership program dedicated to providing organizations with a full breadth of best-of-breed technologies and services to maximize global e-business. Charter members of this program included leading software and technology vendors like Vignette, Interwoven, Akamai, and Broadvision. During the last quarter, Idiom expanded the GPN to include enterprise application integration leaders like webMethods, and the company also entered the wireless marketplace with several key new partnerships, including iConverse and NetMorf.
Product Leadership
In Q4 2000, Idiom started shipping WorldServer 3, a new version of its existing market-leading solution, and leveraging its patent-pending Business Rule Linkage™ technology. WorldServer 3 significantly extended companies' abilities to deploy a coordinated, effective multilingual and multicultural Web presence by providing expanded platform support, an advanced user interface, and key additions to its translation workbench.
Globalization Planning
Idiom is committed to helping companies globalize their e-business and understand the enterprise-wide scope of the globalization challenge. In October, the company launched WorldWise, an online planning resource for globalization. WorldWise offers companies tools to evaluate and understand their overall readiness, and proven methods to follow through successfully. This single online source helps companies target the most promising markets, better allocate resources, and make smarter decisions about key issues from localization to Web site rollout. The early success of WorldWise is evidenced by both the number of registrants and the links from prestigious sources such as the Economist's ebusinessforum.com, the Financial Times' FT.com, and CIO's Globalization Resource Center.
Geographic Expansion
Idiom began its European expansion by opening an office in Maidenhead, England to serve as the base for Idiom business operations in the UK and Scandinavian markets.
