Oracle Implements Idiom Worldserver To Strengthen Global Branding, Slash Content Globalization Costs

Idiom's Globalization Management System Plays Key Role in Strategic Corporate Initiative, Integrates into Oracle Infrastructure

Waltham, Mass. - July 19, 2002 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of content globalization solutions, today announced that Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, has implemented Idiom WorldServer™ globalization management system to update and synchronize content on its multilingual Web sites. Oracle selected WorldServer as part of a company-wide strategic initiative to improve the value of its online content for Oracle customers and prospects around the world.

One important business objective of the initiative was to standardize worldwide messaging. To do so, Oracle required a system to keep all global content, including marketing and messaging information, in sync with the U.S. site and to ensure that content was translated in a standard and systematic way. At the same time, Oracle realized the need to balance centralized control required for consistent global messaging with local empowerment that allows the country teams to both add new content as needed and to appropriately adapt content for language, culture, and unique business practices of their respective markets

"We first piloted WorldServer on our French Web site, and the users loved it," said Julie Gibbs, vice president, Oracle Marketing. "We found that we not only cut our translation turnaround times in half, but we also determined that our global marketing employees could focus more time on other field marketing activities. Now we are considering WorldServer for other Oracle sites, such as the Oracle® PartnerNetwork."

As part of the French pilot, Oracle used WorldServer to extend the capabilities of its content management system. WorldServer added integrated translation technology as well as critical globalization process features to optimize collaboration of Oracle's global, multilingual team. Idiom worked with Oracle to seamlessly integrate WorldServer with Oracle's CMS, enabling translators to work with content at its source and eliminating any need for time-consuming and costly manual file transfers. This functionality allowed Oracle to globalize 100 percent of the targeted files within the specified timeframe of the French pilot, and to reduce globalization turnaround time by 65 percent- Oracle now uses WorldServer to focus on its top international markets, where German, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Korean are spoken.

"Oracle has a long tradition of innovation and is known for adopting the best technology solution to address the business problem," said Joe Fiorentino , president and CEO of Idiom. "With WorldServer, Oracle has improved the quality of its global online content, dramatically reduced the time required to develop local language sites, and meet internal requirements to integrate seamlessly with the Oracle infrastructure."
